Speaking Without Freaking [Online]
A six-week, live online workshop to help you think clearly, organise what you want to say, and speak without pretending to be someone else.
This isn’t about power poses, performance tricks, or turning you into a generic speaker.
It’s about helping you be you, with some solid speaking skills on top.
What this actually is (the quick version):
Six live sessions over six weeks.
Small group (max 10 people).
On Zoom, with recordings.
Practical exercises each week.
You’ll be supported to build and deliver a short five-minute talk by the end of the workshop.
This is for you if…
You’re speaking a bit already and want to do more
You’re aiming for your first speaking gig, or you’ve just landed one and thought, “what the hell do I do now?”
You’ve been promoted or become more visible and speaking is suddenly part of the job
You want help that aligns with who you are, not something that reshapes you
If any of those ring a bell, you’re in the right place.
But if you need a bit more info, read on!
Speaking often feels harder than it should, not because you lack confidence, but because there’s too much going on in your head at the same time.
You’re thinking:
“What am I trying to say?”
“How do I structure this?”
“Am I doing this right?”
Trying to answer all of that at once makes speaking feel stressful.
Once you start to answer those questions properly, speaking becomes a lot easier.
How the workshop works.
Everything in this workshop is built around a simple framework:
Brain → Page → Stage
It’s the order things actually need to happen in.
Most training jumps straight to delivery.
How you stand.
What you do with your hands.
How you move on stage.
And while technique is important, it’s the stuff that comes before that is more useful.
We begin at Brain
We start with you.
Who you are.
How you see the world.
The experiences and stories you already carry around with you.
Most people think they need better material.
They usually don’t.
They already have plenty. They just haven’t looked at it in this way before.
This part of the work is about noticing the things you feel, say, and care about, and understanding why they matter.
It’s also where we look at what’s going on in your head when speaking comes up, so you’re not fighting yourself from the start.
Then we move to Page.
This is where we take all of that good stuff and work out how to say it.
We go through the process of shaping a talk.
Looking at structure.
Introducing simple frameworks and storytelling approaches.
Once things are on the page and making sense, a lot of the pressure drops away.
Only then do we look at Stage.
This is about taking you and your words and putting them out into the world in a way that helps you connect with your audience.
This is where people see your authenticity.
Not because you’re trying to show it, but because you’re clear on what you’re saying and why it matters.
If we start here, everything is harder.
You end up worrying about how you look or sound instead of focusing on the people in front of you.
That’s why we don’t begin with delivery.
Connection comes much more naturally once the earlier work is in place.
What happens by the end of the workshop?
By the end of the six weeks you’ll have built and delivered a short five-minute talk to the group.
This will be developed during the workshop, step by step, with support and guidance.
